Nigeria - Komadugu Yobe strategic action plan - additional environmental and social impact assessment studies

Background: This intervention aims to engender sustainable development of the water resources of Komadugu-Yobe Basin for social and economic well-being of the population living in the basin. The water resources development strategic plan provides the investment road map from the short to long term period (2016-2040) and the institutional framework for implementing and managing the river basin development programme.

Zambia - Feasability study detailed design and ESIA for Lusaka city water supply improvement projet

Background: The proposed operation is a grant of UA 350,000 from the Middle Income Countries Technical Assistance Fund (MIC TAF) to the Republic of Zambia for the design of a sustainable, technically feasible, economically and financially sound, gender sensitive and climate resilient project for improving Lusaka city’s water supply infrastructure project.

Burkina Faso - Project to support access to drinking water and sanitation in outlying areas

Background: The proposed project builds on the experience of the delegation of the public drinking water service, capitalized since 2009 by the National Office of Water and Sanitation (ONEA) of Burkina Faso, the executing agency, to extend drinking water supply to peripheral or undeveloped neighborhoods of the city of Ouagadougou, which are in deficit.

Mali - Climate Change Resilience Support Project and COVID-19 in Bamako

Background: The Support Project to Build Resilience to Climate Change and COVID-19 aims to create a favourable environment for the population of Bamako City to have access to efficient water supply, sanitation, and hygiene services to build resilience to climate change and combat the spread of COVID-19. The project was developed within the framework of the implementation of the Regional Programme to Combat COVID-19 and Build Resilience to Climate Change Through Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Services.

Multinational - Project to improve the environment conducive to the sustainable and equitable management of water resources

Project General Description: The proposed project is the outcome of a proposal submitted by the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) to the African Development Bank in 2020, together with a funding request for institutional enhancement of the Authority. This project seeks to address the critical lack of knowledge on the Basin, in order to drive master planning for water development and management in the basin, and to support an agreement on the advancement of the Noumbiel Dam project; both of which are important to address fragility and build resilience in the Volta River basin. The project is based on requirements from VBA and its member countries.
