The African Water Facility approved on 16 December 2022, a grant of €4.9 million for PHEPA–8P – Promotion of Hygiene, Drinking Water, Sanitation and Strengthening of the Resilience of the Population to Covid-19 and Climate Change in Rural Areas In Eight (8) Provinces in Burkina Faso.

The African Water Facility launches Investment Case to raise €62.15 million ($70.64 million) by 2023 to fund revised strategy

First issued in March 2022. Update of March 2023 incorporates provisions for the African Urban Sanitation Investment Fund (AUSIF), now to be hosted and managed by the African Development Bank and African Water Facility.

The African Water Facility announced a new investment case to mobilize resources to finance its revised strategy for 2017-2025. Based on an updated vision, the African Water Facility is set to improve the quality of life for rural and urban communities in Africa by 2025.

The African Water Facility has successfully concluded its second funding dialogue since inception. From 12 to 13 October 2023, the second funding dialogue convened global leaders representing donor and beneficiary governments, multilateral and international organisations, and other stakeholders at the OECD Centre de Conference in Paris to discuss and explore innovative pathways to financing access to safe, secure, and accessible water and sanitation in Africa.
